Traveling Stash Box

http://karmawillowdesigns.blogspot.com/p/traveling-stash-box.html
Official rules here.

The stash box travelled all way from Hilary @Young Texan Mama. It's been to alot of different places and sure to keep on going. It's got all kinds of stuff inside. This is a really cool idea and fun to participate. Whatever you take out. You put in something from you stash to replace it.

So, here's the chance (US residence only) to get the stash box and pick out some goodies and pass it on to the next person.  All you have to do is leave a comment. It will be up for grabs until Sunday at 8 pm Central time. Then, the random number generator will pick a number, and  I will ship it off to the lucky winner! :)

Here's the goodies that came in the box.

Here's what I took out to keep. On the left, it's a nice fall color. I am going to add into my modern maples quilt when I get to it. I love polka dots, so that was a no-brainer. I don't have much in the way of boyish fabrics. So, I picked this camo fabric. This will turn into something for my son Jared. So, thank you to whoever put these in the box.

I put these little gems in the box. They are super cute. I used them here.  I hope whoever takes them out will enjoy them.

So, good luck wonderful bloggers. I will email the winner on Sunday!

****The winner****

Oooh! Please count me on for this one!! Thank you! :)

Congrats, I will be sending it to you as soon as I get your address.

Farmer's Wife QAL 9 and 10

It seems like it should be easy to fit in a block a day or something like that. Even a couple a week. There are those out there that are really disciplined. So, I am just going to share as I go with no time frame. The link up will still be open. I want to do them when I want to and not have them be some kind of bother. Plus, I don't think anyone is really following other than to see what it looks like in the end.

Block 9 Box

I like how this came out. It was really just triangles. I have finally gotten the elusive 1/4 inch seam done. Woohoo! It only took nine blocks.

Block 10 Bowtie

I think this block is cute.

Christmas Pressies

Hubby bought me some beautiful Briar Rose from Five Monkeys on Etsy.  It's a first! I haven't bought online. I really love these in person. They are super cute! I have rewrapped them and put them back under the tree. I am thinking on it. Maybe a purse, clutch and matching wallet.

I have decided to make a change in the way that I shop for fabrics this year. Many bloggers have discussed this in thorough detail. It's pretty brief for me.  I am going to buy the fabric that I love from the designer's I love. Most of the time that means that I will have to buy online.  I will not be sucked in by instant gratification! I waited on pins and needles for these to arrive. It was well worth the wait!

This is my promise to myself.
I hope you accumulate a beautiful stash of your own. Blog at ya later.

Something Sweet- Finish

Okay, I have been sewing up a storm. Partly for the holidays, and some of it is because I got a tv in the sewing den. Yay! I really enjoy watching and listening to my shows. The bonus is that you can also see it from the kitchen too.

I got up Saturday morning and decided to go on and bind the quick quilt. I think it looks like Something Sweet. We put together a little photo shoot for you.

Here's my cute little helpers, Kenzie and Jared. I did a scrappy binding.

The back.

Hubby was being shy.

Later that day....Photo bombers and all.
Have a sew fun weekend. Blog at ya later.

Small finishes

I had to work on 11 mug rugs. I didn't get pics of the last 4, but here's what I have been sewing like crazy for my hubby.

Vera @ Negligent Style inspired me with her pretty hexie mug rug. So, I made one. Pretty easy. She has a tutorial over there for it.

I took this pic with hubby's phone and not my regular camera. So, I just pulled it from instagram.

I just made them with free creative reign.  No restraints, I love that.
SN: I didn't realize that my instagram was private. I fixed it. Thanks to my friend Kira @ La Bella Colori. Now anyone can follow me. :)

If you follow me on Instagram you got to see this already. I love owls. This is a 3.5x 5 inch mini composition book. I will probably do a tutorial on this later in the new year.

It's small enough to put in my purse. Although, I carry around a pretty huge purse. lol

I took this cute deer ornament to MCQG.

I made this double potholder for my mom. She came over to help me make a turkey to recreate her delicious apple stuffing. Anyway, she was using my double potholder and loved it. So, I got the "hint" and whipped one up.

So, that's what I have been up to in the sewing den. I hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas!

Quick Quilt Quilted

After some woosah moments...
The sewing has gotten better. By now, I am a pro and super quick at rethreading! Ha! Lucky, lucky me, I didn't have any tension issues. I decided that getting it all quilted in one day was not as important as my sanity. I got my quick quilt quilted in three days. I'm okay with that.  If you follow me on Instagram or Flickr, you have seen it.

Plus, everyone but my cute lil girl had the flu. Boo! I am doing much better and Jared, but hubby is feeling green still. Yuck!

I inverted this row of pinwheels on the back. I love how they float.

I agree with some others, the quilting adds another dimension to the quilt. I really love when that happens. (Wasn't planned.)

This is the story on this, I was given this main wall fabric that is in the room from a bee member. It's a theme challenge with crazy fabric, and you have to use the whole yard. I drew my theme, and it was winter. Darn. So, I jumped on wallpaper. It had to be at least 36x36. So, it has high ceilings. Other members had a year to do this. I had a month. Go me, I just finished it up today.

Here's a close up of the tree. I received some cute little light buttons. I used them on the tree. I reused this cute twine on the presents. I put a bow on the wreath. I think it turned out pretty good. Hubby says, "I don't think it's ugly anymore." Score again. :)

I also had to come up with a stocking that I fill for a bee member. It has some cute piping at the top. Now, I have to make some little goodies to go in it. We are doing a stocking swap. Any ideas???
Blog at ya later.

Quick Quilt -WIP

I was quilting away on some hemispheres when  mil called and said that there was a local crafty sale going on in a couple weeks. She thought the guild was going to be involved and member could sell.  So,I put the brakes on everything and  googled quick quilts.  That's where I saw Amy Smarts quilt pinwheel tutorial here. It was just what I needed.

These are 6 inch finished blocks. I used 1/2 yard of 7 fabrics. I have enough left for stashing and binding.  The finished size is 48x60. A nice throw/lap quilt.

Day 1

I thought that these sweet little fabrics would be cute in this pattern.

Day 2 Starting to shape up. Feeling the progress.

Day 3 I had them all up and started sewing them  into pairs. I decided on day three that this design wall isn't for me.  I am gong to have to get some batting for a design wall where it can stick without pins. Lesson learned.

Day4
I thought I had them all laid out and was one seam away from being done. Then, uh oh, two sets were touching. Which you can see in the picture above, it's in the lover half of the quilt.  I had to do minor surgery. No big deal though. I used the new clover seam ripper. (It's ok, but I still love the mini.) Hubby says, I love to unsew. ;)

This is the end of day 4.It's about to be on the frame I am preparing the back. I am going to use the leftover strips for scrappy binding. It will be my first one. Yay!

Now that I worked so hard to get it done, I find out that the guild isn't going to be letting member's sell. ::Sigh::   Well, I can get back to the regularly scheduled quilty program. Christmas is coming!  Blog at ya later.

My Stash

I am beginning to work up to a stash that is really lovely to me. There are still some lines that I really love, and I will have to finish some projects before I buy.  I have been to Joanns to many times lately. I got a whole roll of batting..wow! That's big time.

I got all kinds of goodies! I got a bolt of the navy with a little lighter flowery print for a quilt back or two. I know that this is all about the stash, but I got that marking tool to try. It's supposed to crease the quilt. Then, there are no marking pen lines. If it works that would be amazing.  Plus, people rave about the clover seam ripper. So, I am going to give them a test run. The thread was B1G1...so, it had to hop in the cart too.

Here's a closer look at the top three. I am feeling left out of the low volume scene. So, I had to hop on that.  The top 2 are 2 yards and the bottom is 4 yards.

A week ago, hubby asked for Christmas mug rugs for 4 colleagues. Remember, keeping hubby happy, is my goal. I really like making mug rugs too. So, it makes me happy. Plus, I get some Christmas fabric in my stash. On the left, it's hard to see, but there is snowflakes on the white. The ginger bread were specifically for me. I thought they were just too cute!!

Hope all you lovely quilter's had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have been super busy. The design wall is full. Plus, we hung the Christmas lights. Put up the tree, and it's looking good! Blog at ya later.
